Créé le 25 septembre 2010 et agréé le 03 novembre 2010, le parti AFDC a comme idéologie, selon son président, la social-démocratie fondée sur la démocratie participative, les droits de l’homme, la justice sociale, le développement durable et l’économie sociale du marché.
« Démocratie, citoyenneté et travail », est sa devise. L’emblème de l’AFDC est représenté par une houe symbolisant le travail avec priorité à l’agriculture.
Ce parti a plusieurs principes fondamentaux entre autres le caractère uni, républicain, social, indivisible et laïc de l’Etat congolais ; le respect de la constitution, des lois et règlements de la République ; le caractère national et non discriminatoire du parti ; la lutte contre la corruption.
